This skimmer is the part that stays just above the water so it can filter out any large debris.
This skimmer should be combined with a floating weir and a basket, not included with this item, in order to be effective. You can find them on this page under related products.
Note: if your skimmer is sticking down under the water, it's likely that all you need to do to fix it is to simply lift it up. They can get stuck when you set somthing heavy (like a child) on them.
